If you are a business owner, you are almost certainly in one of the first two categories below:
1) We don’t need social media! It’s a fad (probably the same people that said five years ago “we don’t need a website, it’s new-fangled*)
2) Why doesn’t this social media stuff work?! Answer: There are lots of reasons that differ for every business.
3) Social media changed my life and my business. There are very few of you here. And if you are, your name is probably Gary Vaynerchuk.
So, I’m not actually going to give you lame advice on social media, because it’s readily available on blogs everywhere. However, one critical component of business and social media (how serendipitous, right?) is listening to your customer. You are a business owner. You know something other people don’t know. You have valuable insight into your customers. Help them. Interact with them. Answer their questions. DO-NOT-SPAM-THEM! They will love your brand. That’s social media success.
*Sorry about the late 1500s terminology, it just seemed appropriate.
